The creation of the Structured Light and Matter Research Centre (LUMES) marks a milestone in consolidating Universidad de Salamanca as an international reference in understanding and appliying interactions between light and matter at ultrafast and nanometric scales.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration and the training of young researchers, the main goal of LUMES is to drive innovation in fields such as photonics, optoelectronics, and quantum optics, areas that have transversal impact across various scientific disciplines.

LUMES investigates the interaction between light and matter at ultrafast and nanoscales, including key areas such as ultrafast and nonlinear optics, materials science, magnetism, and artifical intelligence.
