From November 10 to 11, 2025, the University of Salamanca held Science Week, organized by the Unit for Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+I), featuring a wide-ranging program of activities to bring science closer to the general public, families, and schoolchildren.
The Research Group on Applications of Lasers and Photonics (ALF) at LUMES participated actively with the activity “Journeys into the Ultrafast World: Discovering the Femtosecond Laser.” This initiative consisted of guided tours of the laser laboratory, open to all audiences, where visitors could explore up close the fascinating world of ultrashort light pulses and their applications in fields such as nanotechnology and materials physics.
The tours generated great interest, with many attendees asking detailed questions about the operation of femtosecond lasers and the specific research our investigators conduct in the laboratory.
