experimental support for Quantum Materials and Devices Laboratory (QMADE)
research project:
- Manufacture of quantum materials and nanodevices of two dimensions
(2d) Crystals. - Electrical and optoelectronic characterization of devices manufactured at different temperatures (from room temperature up to 10 mK) at different frequencies (infrared, visible, etc.).

The Unit of Light and Structured Matter (Lume) At the University of Salamanca, established and financed by the Regional Government of Castilla y León, it seeks to hire a of one year Pre-doctor researcher and one-year postdoctoral researcher.
We are looking for two highly motivated candidates interested in joining one of Lumes’ seven lines of research.

Responsibilities:
- Theoretical and/or experimental support for the research lines developed in the Lumes Unit of Excellence within the field of structured light and matter.
- Contracting and tender management in accordance with current regulations.
- Projects/research lines available: Line 1: Femtosecond laser materials microstructure. Applications to ultrafast non-linear optics.Line 2: Generation of harmonics in quantum materials.Line 3. Highly nonlinear optical neuromorphic networks.Line 4: Characterization of ultra-short laser pulses in the temporal and/or space-time domain, including scalar pulses and vector pulses (with time-dependent polarization). Pulsed laser modeling and structured light, study of its properties, characterization and applications.Line 5: Magnetic order modeling in 2D materials. Description: The theoretical and computational study will be modeled in which materials with magnetic order (CRPS4, CRI3) and their response to various stimuli (natural oscillation, spin transport, etc.) will be modeled.Line 6: Structured light-induced antiferromagnetic spin wave dynamics. Description: Theoretical and computational study of the excitation of thz oscillations in antiferromagnetic materials induced by structured light.Line 7: Nonlinear Structured Laser Ray Propagation. Title: Parameter suitable for evaluating the space-spectral homogeneity of an ultra-short laser beam. The project It consists of finding a suitable parameter to evaluate the space-spectral homogeneity of the beams coming from a post-compressor configuration based on multiple-pass cells and their application in realistic scenarios..
Requirements:
- For the pre-doctoral position: Have a bachelor’s degree and a field-related master’s degree.
- For the postdoctoral position: Have a doctorate related to the field.

The Ministry of Education of the Junta de Castilla y León The deadline to apply for aid aimed at hiring research support staff at the public universities of Castilla y León for young people included in Lumbar National Youth Guarantee System, co-financed by the European Union. Among the places available, our square stands out. Support Technician for the Unit of Excellence in Structured Light and Matter (LUMES), at the University of Salamanca.
Lumes brings together approximately 50 researchers who work in avant-garde areas such as optics, photonics, materials science and magnetism, affiliated with the University of Salamanca and the Pulsed Laser Center.
The main task of the contracted person will be to give Porte Informatica to the scientific staff of Lumes. The support technician would be in charge of implementing programs to manage automation and control programs for experimental devices and data acquisition in two of the Lumes laboratories: Laser Laboratory your Quantum Materials Laboratory (QMADE), of the management and maintenance of computer equipment, including the Lumes Advanced Computing Cluster and of giving general computer support to the unit, working closely with its research staff.

Description of the main tasks to perform:
- development of Programs that permit integration and control of experimental devices (lasers, motors, detectors…) in some software that allows their automation (LabView, based on Python or other suitable language).
- Development of programs that allowed the operation and monitoring of laser systems.
- Control of environmental conditions of the laser laboratory remotely.
- Give general computer support to the LUMES unit, which includes the management and maintenance of computer equipment from both laboratories and the ALF-USAL group’s computer cluster.
- Other tasks associated with the operation of the laboratories: writing user manuals, inventory control, management of usage/maintenance calendars, user account management.
- 3D design of parts for experimental assembly for subsequent manufacture (depending on the degree and/or experience).
Contract duration: a maximum of 2 years.

About the project
Chirotronics is an ERC-funded project that investigates intriguing chiral responses in atomically thin quantum materials. These exotic phenomena are promising for applications in quantum technologies, optoelectronics and biodetection.
In this position, The successful candidate will explore the chiral optoelectronic properties of new 2D materials and heterostructures at different temperatures (up to Mk), and with/without the presence of an external magnetic field.
their main responsibilities
- Latest generation 2D heterostructure design and manufacture using precise stacking and alignment techniques
- Carry out electrical and optoelectronic measurements of low noise, at cryogenic temperatures and under the presence of external magnetic fields.
- Collaborate within a dynamic and interdisciplinary team of physicists, engineers and material scientists.
- Develop your own research ideas while advising master’s and doctoral students.
- Contribute to high impact publications and international collaborations.
requirement
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science or Engineering Degree.
- Solid experience in Van der Waals heterostructures and 2D material manufacturing.
- Expert in electrical/optoelectronic characterization of nanomaterials.
